About Us

The Zelienople Police Department is staffed with 10 full-time police officers that are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our department consists of a Chief, a Lieutenant, 8 full-time Patrolman, and an Administrative Assistant.

Through a Intergovernmental Cooperation that was entered in 1974, our department has been contracted to police the boroughs of Harmony and Zelienople. With the two Boroughs in close proximity to each other, our Officers are able to quickly and effectively respond to calls in both Boroughs.

Mission

To protect life, preserve order, and uphold the Constitution through disciplined and professional policing.

School Resource Officers

Since the 2023 school year, Seneca Valley School District has contracted the Zelienople Police Department to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) at the Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School. Officer Brink and Officer Setnar are the dedicated SROs for the school. The SROs do more than patrol the hallways and premises; you will see them throughout the school greeting students, visiting with teachers and students, and attending various events outside of school. The Zelienople Police Department also conducts daily patrols at St. Gregory School and St. Stephen’s Academy throughout the school year.

E-Bike Patrols

In October 2024, our department was donated patrol e-bikes. Two bikes, bike decals, riding equipment, and training was all paid for by generous donations from the Zelienople Hungarian Beneficial Society, Randall Hart Family Community Enhancement Fund, Zelienople Rotary Club, Zelienople Area Business Association, and Rocconic. Two of our officers are certified by IPMBA (International Police Mountain Bike Association).

Veterans

The department is honored to have four veterans on on our team. Three Officers served in the Marine Corps veterans and one officer served in the US Army. Three of our Officers served in the Iraq War. Zelienople Borough’s Mayor Thomas Oliverio is an US Coast Guard veteran and a very proud supporter of our veteran police officers.

Task Force

Zelienople Police Officers participate in the Butler County Drug Task Force as well as the Butler County DUI Task Force.  The Drug Task Force comprises state and municipal agencies working together to reduce the availability of illicit drugs in our community.  The DUI Task Force is composed of municipal police departments targeting impaired drivers through the use of stationary and roving patrols, thus keeping our roadways safe.

Our Department also has active members in the Butler County Emergency Services Unit (ESU). Be sure to check out the Butler County ESU section of our website to see how these officers serve our community.
