Some local vets may be able to scan the animal for a microchip which may contain the owner's information. If our officers are available, we may be able to scan the animal using our scan tool.
If you found a dog and the dog has a Butler County Dog License affixed to his/her collar, you may search the Butler County License web site for the owner's information.

If you found a dog and the dog has a Rabies tag affixed to his/her collar, you may contact the vet that is listed on the rabies tag and provide them with the tag number and they may be able to obtain the owner's information.
Dog Licenses
Our department would like to remind residents to obtain a yearly dog license through the Butler County Treasures Office by visiting their website and affix the tag to your dog's collar. It is not only the law, but it can help save time and money and assist in a speedy return of your pet.
