About our Department
The Zelienople Police Department consists of a Chief, a Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and 7 full-time Patrolman. The Department has an Administrative Assistant that is available during regular office hours.
Our officers patrol the Boroughs of Zelienople and Harmony 24/7. Our department is contracted by Harmony Borough to police the Borough of Harmony. This Intergovernmental Cooperation was entered in 1974 and remains in effect today. With the Boroughs in close proximity to each other, our Officers are able to quickly and effectively respond to calls in both Boroughs.
Since the beginning of the 2023 school year, Seneca Valley School District has contracted with the Zelienople Police Department to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) at the Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School. Officer Logan Brink was the school’s SRO for the 2023-2024 school year. For the 2024-2025 school year, Officer Matthew Setnar joined Officer Brink as an SRO. The SROs do more than patrol the hallways and premises; you will see them throughout the school greeting students, visiting with teachers and students, and attending various events outside of school. The Zelienople Police Department also conducts daily patrols at St. Gregory School and St. Stephen’s Academy throughout the school year.
Zelienople Police Officers participate in the Butler County Drug Task Force as well as the Butler County DUI Task Force. The Drug Task Force comprises state and municipal agencies working together to reduce the availability of illicit drugs in our community. The DUI Task Force is composed of municipal police departments targeting impaired drivers through the use of stationary and roving patrols, thus keeping our roadways safe.
Our Department also has active members in the Butler County Emergency Response Unit (ESU). Be sure to check out the Butler County ESU section of our website to see how these officers serve our community.
Our department is honored to have four veterans and our Mayor is also a veteran. Three of our Officers are Marine Corps veterans and one of our officers is an US Army veteran. Three of our Officers served in the Iraq War. Zelienople Borough’s Mayor Tom Oliverio is an US Coast Guard veteran and a very proud supporter of our veteran police officers.
